Bosch is making the car connected
CCU Connectivity Control Unit:The Connectivity Control Unit (CCU) is managing vehicle connections to the outside world. It enables innovative new services including eCall, fleet management, and predictive navigation and pre-diagnostics which significantly raise driving safety and comfort. An example is eCall (Emergency Call). In case of an accident, the CCU automatically connects the driver with the emergency services, which send immediate help to the crash site. This works even if the driver is unconscious. Thanks to an imbedded back-up battery, speaker and microphone, the CCU is fully functional for eCall even in case of damaged in-vehicle system. Connected to the OBD II diagnostics port on the vehicle and using LTE mobile communications, the Bosch CCU is flexible and can be used to enable a wide range of communications and connectivity tasks. Great Wall Motor cars equipped with the Bosch CCU will start rolling within this year.

Connected Horizon system (360°logiQ): The purpose of the Connected Horizon from Bosch is to provide a means for data exchange between the vehicle and the cloud. This facilitates a whole range of applications that constitute a tremendous advancement in energy efficiency and safety. Already in the near future, navigation systems will be able to adapt the route to suit the driver's driving style without the need for any additional input from the driver. At the same time, energy consumption is minimized through intelligent control of the vehicle's powertrain. Furthermore, the Connected Horizon will in future warn the driver about obstacles and hazards before they even become visible.

Connected Aftermarket Solution: The Internet of Things, fast data connections and the possibility of intelligently processing even very large amounts of data have opened up completely new dimensions for the connected automotive aftermarket solution. The workshop of the future knows the "state of health" of their customers' vehicles by a central control device, which continuously record driving data and information about the operating status of different vehicle components. The data is transmitted to a central data processing center where it is processed for preventive diagnostics by using intelligent algorithms. If necessary, the workshop recommends the vehicle owner to have the vehicle repaired. On the other hand, the workshop has all information at hand that is necessary for the repairs and is able to carry out all works via telematics services on the customer's vehicle effectively, without delay and in high quality.
Since January 2015, Bosch Automotive Aftermarket in China has established a new project team dedicated to this vision of connected automotive aftermarket solution. In the second half of 2015, Bosch China Aftermarket will launch its upgraded Telematics product BV-Link. It will offer car owners more accurate and comprehensive services including fuel consumption monitoring, vehicle inspection, complete GPRS, route record, and maintenance reminders. With its new telematics services known as "Connected Fleet Management", Bosch will further strengthen its aftermarket connected services to provide fleet operators, leasing companies and insurances in China with detailed real-time information for intelligent fleet management across China this year.
For connected workshop, Bosch will also introduce its latest intelligent fast testing system - Flex Inspection - into China this year. The new system makes it possible to carry out test procedures via telematics services in only a few minutes, which will help shorten the upcoming workshop visit for end users. A pilot project of such connected workshop is launched in the Bosch owned and operated workshop in Beijing in April.
